Ruralisms

These photographs of the agricultural landscapes of the Argentine Pampas and the US Midwest seek to emphasize the homogenous territorial constructions in both regions.
The images work towards the generic, the neutral, and even the anodyne, searching for a de-dramatization of territorial representation, expressing certain artificiality -even strangeness- in decomposing their elements.
These series are part of an ever-expanding archive looking to reconstruct these productive landscapes to articulate new relationships and understandings between these distant yet remarkably similar territories.
These specific set of images were used as part of a research led by Ciro Najle and Lluís Ortega for their book Suprarural: Architectural Atlas of Rural Protocols of the American Midwest and the Argentine Pampas.
